TMBG Awareness Day

You've probably seen it by now, but Flansburgh has declared Tuesday to be TMBG Awareness Day in celebration of the release of the Join Us Preview.

Personally, I am totally in support of this idea (big surprise), and I think it would be kind of awesome if a bunch of us got together and did something together to show our love (which is not to say, you can't all do stuff on your own too!)

I don't have a clear idea in mind yet (I was hoping for some input from the peanut gallery), but I was thinking about a video of some sort, that a bunch of us could contribute to. I was kind of thinking along the lines of the birthday videos that a bunch of JoCo's fans have made the last few years (look it up if you never saw them), but I am totally open to suggestions.

Thoughts? Anyone interested? Am I on my own?

P.S. Go join the TMBG Awareness Day event page on Facebook if you haven't already (you gotta be logged into Facebook for the link to work): http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=124599457617441

  1. Attending!

I think we should make a video with like, "Hi, my name is ___ and I'm a TMBG fan." Get as many of us as possible. And then somebody at the end says, "They Might Be Giants Awareness Day. If you know someone affected by a lack of They Might Be Giants music, please. Introduce them to the band." Something like that. That's an early draft of a joke that could be.

  2. I like Erin's idea of making a video of a BUNCH of people saying "Hi, my name is _______ and I'm a TMBG fan," except maybe instead of just "I'm a TMBG fan" they could do their own one-liner (like "and I've seen TMBG x times" or "and Ana Ng CHANGED MY LIFE, MAN" or "and John Flansburgh is the coolest aging hipster I know" except better than those examples) and then put it together. Because I think that'd be kind of cool.

  3. Man, I am really bad at coming up with creative ideas, but I'm on board to do my part in whatever you all come up with. :-)

  4. Megan, I like your idea. The "I'm a TMBG fan and" idea. That's better than mine.

  5. Ok, guys. I like it. It's a nice, simple idea that will be easy to carry out in a short period of time and wont require elaborate video editing. Start thinking of your "and" statement and I'll put out an official call for videos tomorrow. Also I feel, like it should have a good joke or gag or heartfelt message or something at the end. I'll think on that but if anyone has any ideas let me know.

  6. I think that in the middle of the video it should go quiet for a few seconds and then someone should pop up and yell "DEAD!"
