Song of the Day - Day 11

And today's song is....

Hot Cha

Most of my associations with this song have been with it live at Flood shows. I used to not like it that much but it's grown on me a little over time. Mostly, you say Hot Cha and I can immediately hear the buzzer coming out of Linnell's keyboard.

  1. I've never been to a Flood show, so my associations are a bit different. I didn't know how to feel about this song originally, but then again, I was a "stupid" kid who didn't quite "get" TMBG yet.

Though I remember this song playing during a drive out to eastern Long Island with my friend and I think my brother too. We listened to Flood. It was nice outside. That's all I've got.

  2. I don't think not knowing how to feel about a song makes you stupid or unable to "get" something, Erin. Sometimes you just have to let it marinate. (Look, I just made a weird grilling reference!) :P
Anyway, I like this song quite a lot. I haven't been to a Flood show either, but, like a lot of TMBG songs, it's fun to sing along to. And it really reminds me of a guy I know. Or knew. Also, I've always been quite fond of the phrase "hot cha". :)

  3. This and Lucky Ball & Chain are the two saving graces of Flood shows for me. I never grasped the concept of "understanding" an album as a whole until I'd listened to Flood all the way through a few times, which I think in turn helped me appreciate each of the songs alone, by themselves.

Which is a long and pretentious way of saying that I like this song. There.
