Today's song is...
Pictures of Pandas Painting
Oooo, the alliteration. Funny and cute but somehow doesn't live up to it's potential. I want it to be a better song than it is. It does give Dan an opportunity to try out some atypical (for TMBG anyway) stylings on his axe. I heard Flans use this as an example multiple times in interviews, when he was talking about how freeing writing children's music was in terms of musical styles.

Sweet visuals.
ReplyDeleteWhoa.
ReplyDeleteI think I must have some sort of telepathic connection to your blog. I haven't listened to this song lately, but it suddenly popped into my head about fifteen minutes ago and I was thinking that it could make a cute There's A Picture Opposite Me entry. Then I come here and it's song of the day. Strange..
As for the song, I quite like it. I kind of see what you mean about it having the potential to be better, but somehow its mediocrity in terms of TMBG songs sits well with me. (That sounds insane. I dunno.) It's fun to sing along with and I'm a huge fan of alliteration in any context, so that makes up for a lot. Plus, I always get the feeling that Flansburgh is doing a John Lennon impersonation while singing this. Is that nuts? Either way, it's amusing to me.
And cute video. :)
