Song Of The Day - Day 210

Today's song is...

I Can't Hide From My Mind

This song is a perfect example of my reaction to so many Flansburgh songs. Perfectly good song, but as soon as it stops playing I completely forget about it. There is something kind of catchy and clever about the first/last verse. But I'm always surprised when the album ends after the last verse is over. My brain just expects something more. One thing this song does have going for it: bongos. I do love me some bongos.

  1. The same long car trip when I fell in love with Mink Car I put my iPod on shuffle and found I Can't Hide From My Mind. I love it. It's one of my favorite Flansburgh pieces. Yes, at a glance, it is easily forgettable. However, the lyrics are incredible in a very subtle and haunting way. And it does have bongos. And that's awesome.

  2. I pretty much agree with what has already been said about this one. Good song. Excellent lyrics and nice melody. But sadly forgettable. Sometimes I skip it because it's so slow, which really isn't a good reason, but I listen to CDs on shuffle mode more often than not, and there are so many other songs I want to hear on The Spine that I kind of take this one for granted.
