Dan's one and only contribution to the catalog. I hate to admit how long it took me to realize that Dan was singing this song (confession: it was like a year after we had the album). I often forget how much I love this one. It usually has to start playing before I remember. I think it's the music and the arrangement I like in particular, though I also love Dan's voice (this definitely plays into my obsession with him as a back-up singer). I really do wish he got to sing lead more. I've always wondered if that was by choice or not. And of course, typical of me, I'd also really like to know who it is singing back-up with him on this song. I'm also kind of curious why this one didn't get a video.
My favorite part is the "around around around around" section. It just goes so well with the theme of the song. Maybe someday, when all my dreams come true, I'll get to see Dan sing this live.
Also, have any of you ever bothered to look up Robert Sharenow, the guy who co-wrote the song with Dan? Cause he seems like a pretty interesting guy. Published author. Programming exec for A&E and Lifetime. Songwriter. I wonder how he and Dan know each other?

I know I'm late to comment (I have been busy traveling!), but I just had to say that I really love this song. I think Dan should write more. And I too would love to see it performed live.
ReplyDeleteI remember after hearing this a bunch of times in the minivan in my non-fan days thinking "Hey, this isn't one of the same guys! This guy sounds like he's trying to be a rock star or something."
