  1. Would you mind if we balanced this glass of milk where your visiting friend accidentally was killed?

  3. :) Haha, why thank you. And thank you, Kelly, for a very amusing new pastime! :D (Thought maybe you'd like to join in on the guessing, which is why I didn't include the lyric with my e-mail.) There's no stumping TMBG fans. :]

  4. I was actually stumped for a bit after I first got it. I had to go look up songs with milk in the lyrics :-) I especially like the added touch of the name tag.

  5. Haha..there are quite a few of them, too! Although, according to the User's Guide liner notes, not nearly as many as there are songs with coffee in the lyrics. I can't even think of a TMBG song with coffee in the lyrics. Maybe I just haven't heard many of them yet. Or maybe I just don't remember the coffee references because I like milk and not coffee. Why am I going on about beverages? Who cares?!

I thought the name tag would help a bit. It even says "visitor". Not that it's legible from that far away, unfortunately. Oh well, though. The point was still made. :]

  6. "By Doc's Sugar Bowl my coffee gets cold cause cause I don't want to see"

"Watermelon, pickle, my coffee needs a refill"

    "More coffee for me, boss"

"I put a rock in the coffee in your coffee mug"

"Fresh coffee and bagel, pudding and soap"

"Can't drink coffee or beer cause he's a Supertaster"

"Operators are standing by, smoking cigarettes and drinking coffee"

"I didn't expect to find a salesman drinking coffee this late in the morning."

And that's not even counting the covers :-) But you are right, there are a lot of songs that mention milk too.

  7. Wow, there are a lot! Haha, I can't believe I didn't think of "John Lee Supertaster" or "Hearing Aid". The others don't sound familiar...yet.
    :)

  8. Well, let's see, you've got The Biggest One, which is on Then. Garden of Eden which is on McSweeney's which you don't have yet. Then Hearing Aid, I've Got a Match, I am A Grocery Bag, Supertaster, Operators are Standing By and finally Snowball in Hell.

Coffee really isn't beating milk by much though. In addition to the one in your picture:

    "Please pass the milk, please'

"Milk and biscuits and cocktail sauce"

"Glass of milk standing in between extinction in the cold and explosive radiating growth"

    "Music milk from music cows"

"Milk is a liquid" and "Could you make milk so hot it would be a gas?"

And for bonus points there is also this line: "Pour milk in my coffee" from a Mono Puff song.

  9. :) Thanks for the bibliography. I remember listening to all of them at least once except for I Am A Grocery Bag and Operators Are Standing By, but it's possible I've listened to that one once so far. I'm not sure. I really like I've Got a Match. Also, the first couple of times I listened to Snowball, I thought he was singing, "avalanche or robot". Hehe. :}

  10. I notice the word coffee every time it's mentioned in a TMBG song now! Hehe.
    Another:

"Lie still, little bottle, and shake my shaky hand. Black coffee's not enough for me, I need a better friend"
