Today's song is...
Nightgown of the Sullen Moon
And here we have a song I don't pay a whole lot of attention to but actually really enjoy. Linnell's word play creates some really interesting imagery. And I think I have a fondness in general, for songs with a lot of words sung really fast. They are fun to sing along with and just make things a little more interesting musically. I find the fire alarm and clapping interlude in the middle rather endearing. And the rhythm track is really interesting with a lot of different sounds mixed in, particularly at the end. So yeah, good song.

I agree with the above, and will add that there's something great about giving such a dreamy, impressionistic title to a song with a chunky Bo Diddley beat.
ReplyDeleteBecause of the rapid fire lyrics you can hear sharp intakes of air throughout the song. It's sort of interesting to listen to, I think; once you pick up on it it never goes away and you never hear the song the same way again.
