Today's song is...
Dark and Metric
I can not believe I didn't put this on my list of awesome bass songs. Like seriously, how did I miss this? This song would probably be totally forgettable for me if it were not for the spectacular bass stylings of Mr. Graham Maby. Ok, I kind of like the slide guitar solo too. And the way Linnell sings the last "drowned" But mostly bass, bass, bass.
That is all.
"Just because you're floating doesn't mean you haven't drowned" is damn fine lyric.
ReplyDeleteI rather like this song. The bass is nice. Also, I never understood why they claimed it has a "Sesame Street vibe."
ReplyDelete"That is all." How Deranged Millionaire-esque.
Haha, I hadn't read about it having a "Sesame Street vibe" until just now. X) In a weird, sort of intangible way, I kind of get that.
ReplyDeleteThis is another one of those songs I kind of had to rediscover to appreciate more. I liked the title "Long Tall Weekend" pretty well, but at first listen I think I dubbed it my least favorite album. Then I got really into a few of the other albums and listened to them nonstop. One day I went back and listened to Long Tall Weekend again and realized that there were some really good tracks on it. A few of the ones I liked best were on other albums, which may have been part of the reason I kind of ignored Long Tall Weekend at first. I realized, though, during my second go around with this album that there were several good songs I was missing out on hearing and this was one of the ones that finally won me over to it. It's still not my favorite album, but I have more of an appreciation for it now, and I think this song is mostly responsible for that.
I have to admit, I'd never paid that much attention to the bass in this song for some reason, but now that you mention it and I listen to it again, it really IS fantastic. :)
